Looking for a little more trick than treat, here are some haunted
houses around town this season. If you’re looking for some historically scary fun,
check out our
recent blog post on Portland’s Haunted underground.
ScareGrounds PDX at Oaks Park
Sellwood’s Oaks Park embraces the spooky season with three haunted houses
alongside its usual rides and carnival games. This year’s highlights include a
theater haunted by horror villains, a creepy royal court with a dragon (“Can
you escape before it consumes you?” Maybe!), and a chance to join a secret
monster-slaying group. Don’t miss family night every Sunday, and be sure to try
zombie archery!
7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland
The Fear PDX
The Fear PDX fancies itself “Portland’s Scariest Haunted House,” so this is
targeted at more serious scare-seekers. The haunted house features “scare
zones.” Outside you’ll find a toxic waste–filled pumpkin farm and clown-filled
fun house. You’ll also find several escape rooms, like the Slasher Shed,
Chopped, not to be confused with the cooking show!
12219 NE Glisan St., Portland
Underhill Haunted House
North Portland’s Underhill takes over 40,000 square feet of the Veterans
Memorial Coliseum for the spookiest month. The haunted mansion, a vampiric
lair, is joined by two exhibits: an alien-infested spaceship and, new this
year, a swampy witches’ bog. Younger guests can enjoy Monster Fest on October
20 and 27, when the haunted areas are open for roaming in daylight.
300 Winning Way, Portland
We hope this round-up of events gives you and your family
ideas for making memories! Enjoy the sweater weather, pumpkin spice, tricks and
treats and we’ll see you in the community!
