Lake Oswego's Best Fall Events: Pumpkin Patches, Oktoberfest & More

There's something about fall that gets me every year. The mornings turn crisp, everything smells like cinnamon and woodsmoke, and suddenly every weekend feels like it's made for getting outside. The problem isn't a lack of things to do around Lake Oswego. It's that the season moves fast, and if you're not paying attention, half of it slips by before you've made it to a single one.

So, here's what I've got lined up. A few old favorites, a couple I'm excited to try myself. Take your pick.

West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta

🗓️ Sunday, October 18, 2026, 10 am to 4 pm. It's a one-day event, so there's no second weekend to catch it if you miss it.

🎫 Free to attend. There's a shuttle system with parking available at nearby lots (Kaiser Permanente, Bellagio's Pizza, The Oregon Clinic, and Hedges Green Shopping Center) that drops you a couple blocks from the event.

This one is exactly what it sounds like: grown adults in costumes paddling actual giant pumpkins across Tualatin Lake at the Commons. It started back in 2004 and has turned into one of the more talked-about fall festivals in Oregon, pulling in tens of thousands of people from all over the country. Races run in heats, growers, sponsors, local police and fire crews, and folks picked through an online paddling lottery all get their turn on the water. Alongside the races there's pumpkin bowling, pumpkin golf, a costume contest, food vendors, and live entertainment on the lawn.

Skip trying to park right at the Commons. There are designated lots around town with a shuttle that drops you a couple blocks from the action, and if you want a decent view of the water for the races, get there early because the shoreline gets packed fast. This one works for everybody, little kids love the costumes and the pumpkin bowling, and there's enough food and vendor booths to make a whole afternoon out of it even if you never get close enough to see the actual race.

Oaks Park Oktoberfest

🎫 Gate only admission is $7.50 for guests 48 inches and taller, $4.50 under 48 inches. Gate plus rides bracelets run $44.45 (48" and taller) or $23.45 (under 48"), and new this year the ride bracelet includes gate admission. Parking is $4 a day, and card or mobile pay only onsite (no cash).

This is Portland's own Oktoberfest, held right at Oaks Park along the river. There are two stages of oompah bands and traditional dancers, a Vendor Village of local craft vendors, cooking demonstrations, wiener dog races, and a Kinderplatz area just for kids. On the food and drink side you can get authentic German fare with imported beers alongside local cider and wine, and Paulaner is back at the festival this year by popular demand. Since it's held inside the amusement park, you've also got the rides, mini golf, and roller skating rink available on top of the festival grounds.

Rides open an hour after the festival opens and close an hour before it closes, so plan around that if the kids are set on the coaster. If you're over 55, show up Friday between 4 and 6 PM for free gate admission with ID. This one works whether you're bringing little kids for Kinderplatz and the rides or coming with friends for the beer and bands, since it's really two events layered on top of each other.

Wachlin Farms

Wachlin Farms in Sherwood is home to Papa's Pumpkin Patch along with Amy's Heirloom Vegetables and The Purple Hen Flowers and Herbs, all run by the same family. The pumpkin patch alone covers around 50 acres of pumpkins and squash in dozens of varieties, plus there's a farm store stocked with fall decor, farm fresh eggs, and pantry goods. It started decades ago as a roadside stand a teenager set up to save for his first truck, and it's stayed a no-frills, walk-the-fields-and-pick-your-own kind of operation instead of turning into a big commercial attraction. There's no corn maze circus here, just acres of pumpkins to wander through and a laid-back farm stand at the end of it.

Bring the dog. Wachlin is one of the only patches in the area that lets pets come along, which makes it an easy stop if you've got a four-legged family member who hates being left in the car. It's also one of the more relaxed patches around since the family running it has intentionally kept it simple and not overly commercial, so it's a solid pick if you just want to pick a pumpkin without paying for a dozen add-on activities.

Zoofarm at Enchant Mill is a fall farm stop with animals to visit alongside the seasonal pumpkin and harvest offerings that come with the season. It's the kind of spot where you can pair looking at farm animals with picking out pumpkins in one trip, without needing to plan two separate outings. Details on this year's exact setup are still coming together, so it's worth a quick check before you head out.

This one suits families with younger kids especially, since seeing the animals tends to be the highlight for the littlest visitors. I'd call ahead or check before making the drive since the fall lineup and hours weren't locked in yet as of this writing.

Plumper Pumpkin Patch & Tree Farm is a year-round farm that shifts into pumpkin season each fall, with pumpkins alongside its usual tree farm offerings. It's a straightforward option if you want a patch that isn't trying to be a full-blown amusement park, just pumpkins and farm grounds to wander. The exact fall lineup for this year wasn't posted yet when I checked, so it's worth confirming before you make the trip.

Since it operates year-round, this is a good one to keep in your back pocket even outside peak pumpkin season if you need a tree later on. For the fall pumpkin patch specifically, I'd double check hours and pricing before heading out since they weren't published yet.
